This is probably a foolish question. I posted earlier that Id acquired a 97' mongoose 450. This radio did really well for about 2 weeks, great modulation, and receive. Out of the blue I started getting major "back swing" using the same amp that its been driving for the entire time Ive had the radio. Ive tested the radio on my watt-meter and the dead-key is right on 2 watts. Ive also tested the amp on another radio "cobra 19" which i also had the dead-key set to 2 watts. The amp and cobra work great together.( a small amount less swing then mongoose had with the Palomar) What would cause the mongoose to have this back swing?
Is the radio shot, or should i have some one look at it? It was a freebie so if its crapped out no biggie just curious. I did order a new Galaxy DX 979 to take its place but I'm still waiting on the ups man to bring me my new toy :O) The Galaxy will be coupled with my Maco 300, and the 4 pill Palomar will be joining the cobra 19 in my pick-up truck for now until I convince my wife that life is better when your packing a SWP General Lee lol. Anyway you guys haven't let me down yet, and of all the CB sites on the net hands down this one is the best IMO. also if the mongoose is shot is there anything I should pull from the radio before i trash it (echo board, sideband switch)?
