Mods for a Cobra 75?

I bought a Cobra 75 before I knew that it didn't modulate as well as some others.
What modifications can I make to improve it's performance?
Thanks, Shell

I can email you the service manual for the 75 which includes the alignment and tuning procedure.

I just recently worked on one of these models for the first time and I am amazed how they squeezed everything inside the handheld unit.

Please don't be surprised if you don't gain anything because there is really nothing to be modified on these unless you are interested in doing some major overhaul. This radio is a convenience thing and not intended to put out any real power.

The audio IC in this unit seems to clip very easily. So don't fool yourself by adjusting the modulation pot to get more power without looking at the waveform on a scope.
