SWR Reading
Maybe this is a dumb question, I have a rm 503 hd amp inline before the antenna, and with amp off i get a flat match. When i turn the amp on it goes to 2.5 without recalibrating, But when i recalibrate with the amp on it's 1:3.What i'm asking is do you recalibrate with the amp on and if so is my swr reading a proper reading with amp on
thank you
thank you

Make sure you change the watt reading on your meter. You could be getting the sad readings when your meter is still on 10 Watts. I don't know for sure, but I love the RM KL 503. Gotta be sure everything is set right when you transmit. On AM, pre amp off, correct wattage, lol, all the things I mess up all the time.

Re: SWR Reading
Yes, you have to recalibrate because of the additional wattage.

This is why I like a cross needle SWR meter over a traditional meter.
With a cross needle meter I instantly see if both values (output power and reflect) are within range of what I expect. And that in all power settings without recalibrating.
