Turner Road King 66 hand mic

Post by blue goose »

I came across this old mic in my archives and wonder if anyone knows how well it would work with my Cobra 29 which has swing mod and modulation tweaked....it is a Turner Road King 66. It is an amplified mic, has slide volume control at the top. Got it on an ebay auction with some other items, and wonder if anyone here knows anything pro or con abt it?
Thanks

I never herd of a RK 66...Are you sure it's not the RK 60? I have a few of those, and they use a 7 volt battery which are hard to find...If you can't find a 7v battery, you can use a 12v battery like what is used in most garage door openers...You just need to bend the prongs a little in the Mic so the battery makes contact... I have several of the 60's like I said and a couple of the M+2U Road Kings and have been using the 12v battery's for a while and they work good, you just don't have to turn the volume up as much is about it.

Main problem with those old Mic's is they don't "Age" very well. I have bought several over the years that had bad elements in them or the Mic cord was dry-rotted.

They will work with the 29's. But you may need to have it re-wired, pending on what it was originally wired for.
