I've been thinking about one of these. I get in those river valleys and my cell gets nuthin'.....might be able to contact somebody if something happened.

You can use any antenna for a boat that works with CB radios or Marine if you are gona use one of those.

They do make antenns just for boating with Stainless Steel and fiberglass. I have used them before. Those are good if you are in salt water.

OK maybe i didn't ask the right ? i have a 21' pontoon boat it is aluminum but am i gonna be able to get a ground since the boat will be on the water i didn't know if i would have to use a groundless antenna or what.

I'm not a 100% sure, but I think these are set up for no ground. Wish I knew somebody that's used one.
That would look good on your pontoon boat I bet.

Your pontoon boat would need to be grounded to the neg post of the main battery. Antenna would be grounded to boat and radio.

WOW! Is that site one of the sponsor's? Check out their price's on their CB Radios! $119.00 for a Cobra 18DX! :shocked: Guess they must also come out and install the thing too! :mrgreen:

Oh...Then that explains things a little better...Guess those are Canadian Dollars then! I was fixing to say, Cobra must have done a major over-haul of the Cobra 18, to get someone to try and sell that peice of "do-do" for over $100! :mrgreen:

I always liked the idea of a CB with the front fireing speaker, but the Cobra 18 was a real disapointment...
