What are the numbers that are connected with your call names?

Basically they are a self-assigned CB airwave "username" or "user ID" just like ones people come up with to join various internet chat groups or forums. Sort of a non-official self-made radio station "call sign" in the vein of what the former licensed CBers and currently licensed Hams use for a station ID. People have differnt reasons for choosing the numbers that they will use, and it would be good to think about it before choosing one, as before long you'll realize that's what people will know you as. Do a little on-air listening too, to help avoid choosing a number that's already in-use by someone else around your area, to avoid confusion. If you have an AM "handle" you go by, then sometimes it is inserted in front of the DX and/or SSB call sign ID number. However traditionally many on SSB only use the numbers, but that isn't always the case anymore. And if you're talking about international DX SSB, place a "2" in front of your number to let others know you are calling from the United States.

I think everyone just picks one. It's a lot clearer to shout out when talking skip. I chose 369 from the Lil' John song "Get Low".
