Just ordered a Super Wacked General Lee and have a few ?s.
I just ordered a Super Whacked Packed General Lee from MR. Radio Active and have a few questions. I would like to run this radio straight off the batteries and what wondering if you guys could recommend a guage of wire and also what size of inline fuse and where to put it? Anything else I should do before it comes?
were to put it depends on what the auto is and were ya perfer it as for the rest i think ya can hook it directly to battery and as for the power i think it came with a harness. Prolly have to upgrade the fuse tho seeing RA makes a kick **Censored** radio and it will prolly draw more amps than factory fuse in harness
Install Vehicle
I am going to be installing in a 2000 Kenworth T2000. I am also thinking a 50amp should be sufficient for the inline fuse. I am sure the radio wiring is not going to be 8guage so do you think I should still run that big of line? I guess it wouldn't hurt would it? If I can find one at walmart ready to go that might be the best route to go. Also for replacing my co-phase coax what would you guys recommend?
As to the gauge question, There are as many opinions as ppl on this forum. In my opinion ( with many years of experiance and training ) the wiring on your radio is ok for a short distance but when you extend it all the way to the battery you will lose currant ( Watts/amps ) because of the resistance in the wire X length. I personaly run 4 gauge ( have 3 of those at my battery ) because of the load I have on each. And no, It wont hurt you to have a larger gauge than you need but will hurt you if your gauge is too small
