Uniden pc66xl

Post by billywilly92 »

Hey I'm new to the forum since I just found my dads old CB radio. Its a uniden pc66xl and I have a k40 antenna and its in my 86 k20. I was also thinking about getting a loud speaker for it. So I just wanted to know if the pc66xl is a good radio for someone who doesn't know much about them. Anything I should know about it?

billywilly,

welcome to the forum. funny... your oops post got more attention than your legitimate one. We were just having a bit of fun. In answer to your question, Im sure your CB is just fine. Hook it up and start talkin. When you get on air just do a communication check and the guys will let you know if you sound ok. make sure you take the time to read all of the forums and many of your questions will be answered.

Dont do it like me and start posting questions and find out that your question was already answered somewhere else! LOL Even though there is no such thing as a stupid question you may get razzed a bit. As you get more into CB you may find that you want to upgrade your system piece by piece. Most would agree that the antenna is a good place to start.

Pay special attention to the antenna help section as well as any posts pertaining to tuning and SWR. If you already know this stuff, all the better if you dont, it will help tremendously to read as much as possible.

have fun

HAHAHA! OK...so this is where the now famous "Oops" post first got it's start!

I'm with Gunny. That is a good radio, and the antenna is ok too. Just be sure you tune the antenna with a swr meter before you start talking...
