What is a Cobra 2000 GTL worth?
What would you pay for Cobra 2000 GTL (Philippines) in as new condition? I saw one in the pawn shop listed for $159, the stock mic still in wrapper comes with Styrofoam/box and original booklet.
The one I have now bought out of the Craig-list for $90 (Taiwan), it works perfect but it has come cigarette burn marks on the top and smell like a ash tray.
I'm thinking of selling the one I have and buy the one I saw in the pawn shop, what do you guys think? would you give $159 for one that is as new.

If it is as nice operational wise as described, it's a good deal. If you sell yours, sell the radio and the speaker separately, as it will bring more that way, or keep your speaker and have 2 for the new one. -drdx

Thanks, you guys. Now I'm a lot more confident about pulling the trigger, they are closed today but I'll be there first thing Monday. I didn't have a real way to test it, only plugged in to AC to see the clock and light etc come on and heard very low (almost none) static report from the speaker. I restore SXS shotgun for hobby income and used them a dozen times for FFL transfer, in fact that's what brought me there yesterday. I'll see if they can give me a few hours to return it if it does not work.

I second that. And for you're old radio, I'd keep them both. Why not have another one for parts? We all know what the frequency counters are known for on those radios! Plus, a 2000 with dual speakers sitting beside it just looks like a man's radio...rocketdeerdog wrote:That does sound like a good price, but being its at a pawn shop I'd low ball them. If they are asking $159.00 I'm sure they don't have $75.00 in it. Whats the worse that could happen. If they say no just pay the $159, but I'd at least try.

You got that right.Black Lightning wrote:Something smells about that. If it's a Philippines model, it CANNOT be from the early 80s. The OLDEST it can be is 1989.
Read between the lines, the radio is new but used for 2 weeks but has scratches and rust on the bottom....
I don't think those are the pictures of that radio, I think he is using the same photos to sell a different radio and for got to do his home work.
