Nice dual bander. I'm assuming you have the license to operate it? No harm meant. And, of course, you can certainly listen, license or not! :D
Two meters and 440 FM can have some surprising range. For example, there is a 2 Meter repeater on Mt Mitchell, NC at 6600 feet that covers 7 states. There's a "6600 Net" that meets on the machine, and I hear stations check in from NC, TN, Ga, AL, KY, and even Ohio! Some of these guys are using 5 watt handhelds!

I used this rig to drag around between lounge, garden and car for rx. It`s small enough to tuck into the glove box of the car when parked up and fits in a small slot above the car radio when in use, you can angle the head so that you can see the display very clearly. It`s got to be one of the easiest units to send a freq to memory while driving and the ability to watch(and see) two freqs at once is simply superb. I haven`t used it in tx and would imagine that it would be ok but you might want something more substantial if you are into 2Mtrs but as a light portable rig it has got to beat most hand held scanners for mobile control. A previous post mentioned lack of airband! mine works just fine( set up is at power up) and AM rx around 154-166 is as good as you would want. Is it affected by breakthrough from pagers etc? yes, but in my opinion not that bad and there is always a bit of compromise that you have to pay for size and features.I find it very sensitive to weak signals. The speaker is loud enough even when pushed into the cubby hole at the dash board. The fan can be set up to be on all the time or when wanted and when in the car I keep the fan on all the time to keep it cool.I gave it a 5 because the pros outweigh the cons.
1. nice large display
2. easy to find the knobs while mobile.
3. the joy of watching and hearing two freqs
4. portability.
5.good clean sharp audio.
6. multi function mike
etc,etc.

The repeater is what makes it very beneficial to have a license.
