i kept listening for radio chatter from operators in the recent hurricane path and was also asking stations near if they had heard anything related.
seems almost everybody yells for CQDX but then won't engage in a pertinent conversation.
i know you guys are going to answer with , get on the ham band, cb'ers are a bunch of slchiktalkers,
etc. etc. but i was kind of hoping that cb's could be useful in such situations.
updating,, i see one our retired generals has taken a lead in helping, along with many volunteers.
he estimated the death toll at over 4 thousand. some say 5,000.
This is all fresh news coming out and very sad.
I feel there is not much I can do when 2000 miles away,

Re: radio chatter
I've been keeping in touch with the folks I met the short time I was living NW of Greenville. The damage there was bad, mostly trees blocking roadways and downed power lines, my house (sold it 2 yrs ago) there took a big hit, 2 large oaks in the front yard blew over, luckily not on the house, I still own 8 acres of wooded land and my neighbor is taking care of all the fallen trees.
Most of those places hard hit in NC were less than an hour drive from my house, I really feel for them but living there I found they are very resilient, I do hope they rebuild and not let the government take their properties.

Yes, I agree there should be an emergency net set up on the CB band. The only way I get information in the hurricane zones is on frequency 14.325 which is an emergency net.
