A guy drove up to my wife & me in a truck stop and and "you wanna buy a radio" ? He handed me a box with this radio in it. I took a look and he said "twenty-five bucks" . . . I countered with $20.00 and he took the cash and sped out onto the highway. "Don't ask, don't tell' - LOL !

200 whole watts?...that's cute....Here's my $49 Uniden 520 that kick's out around 3200 watts...

Picked up a Filipino Uniden PC 66a on facebook marketplace locally for $5,yes five dollars America. I expected some beat up

but it was practically brand new. Got it home,put it on a supply,put a 6” 316ds pigtail and coax on it,plugged in my external headphone amplifier and speakers and finally jacked it my audio chain with Gstand d104.

Put a 5w slug in forward,1/2w carrier,switched the compounder to 2x gave it some modulation,probably 10w. Unimpressive bird numbers but here is where things get interesting. Filpped the stiffy switch for pep and went to a 20w,in the corner,2x 30ish,finally on 5x the damn $5.00 radio keys 3w swings 35ish,flipped my microphone tube preamp on and fed it some more audio radio swings 43w pep. Not bad for a $5 radio that the woman knew nothing about. Someone had hands in it who knew what their way around a 66a.

That Galaxy will drift in SSB frequency especially when it is cold.

I just recently got 2 radios a new antenna and linear for my 4 wheeler.
Today I got a brand new old stock Radio Shack Model 21-524 SWR Power Meter ( 2000 watts )
Along with 2 six foot jumper wires rated to 1800 watts.
I plan to talk worldwide this summer on AM and SSB

A friend of mine sent me an old Teaberry Stalker IX modified for 10m. Can't wait to try it out, but been busy with work & life. I also want to open it up and study how they modified it in hopes I might be able to modify one of the other old CB's I have around here. I've had no problem modifying older 23 channel crystal controlled CB's but the ones with PLL's are a bit out of my league.
