wtb Mic Extension cable 6 pin for President Richard
Do you know where I can get a Mic Extension cable 6 pin for a President Richard ? Ideally about 7 or 8 feet long, NOT coiled, and if it happened to have a right angle connector at the radio end that would be a plus.
I will be mounting my next radio above the rear view mirror, then run the mic extension cable from the radio, to the left around the windshield and into the dash, where the regular mic can connect to it near the middle of the dashboard between the driver & passenger.
If I knew where to get the male & female ends, what they are called, & what kind of wire they use (probably shielded?) I could make my own mic extension cable, but I don't have the radio yet. Trying to get everything lined up so I can do the install in 1 go. Thanks

I have gone to the hardware store and bought six wire cable and just made one up.All you have to do is match up the pins. Or if you can call a radio shop. Also check out Dx engineering see what they have.
Keep smiling ...It makes people wonder what your up too !

Thanks, Do you know what they call these 6 pin connectors? And should that wire also have shielding?

interesting,
as I was also looking to extend a mic cord,
i searched for awhile and then had other priorities.
In your case, since your concealing the extension, you could do what 295 said, make up your pairs and i would wrap the whole bunch in a shield, especially noting to copy the existing shielded wire(s).
a qty. of 2 old fashion audio cables would work for you. (i think).
i have also taken a coiled cord and put a heat gun on it, uncoiling it, it becomes much longer.

The mic plugs can be found just by googling “6pin round CB plug or jack”, several places pop up, the hard part is locating straight 6 wire with a shielded audio. When you do, send me a PM and I’ll post the link. Only looking for uncoiled audio lead in bulk.

Breaker breaker - I found all the parts at the local electronics store! This was perfect, as I was able to make sure I got the right stuff. I made the cable, and it worked first time!!!
PARTS LIST for 6 pin Mic Extension:
Philmore Mobile Connector 6 pin Female 61-606.
Philmore Mobile Connector in-line 6 pin Male 61-636.
6/22 shielded 6 cond wire, 22 gauge. 10 feet.
I opened & looked at both ends of the President Richard mic. Only 5 conductors are used.
Pin 4 = no connection (radio end of Mic).
Pin 5 = shield braid.
Total Cable = 4 conductors + braid / shield. So you COULD buy 4 conductor with a shield. (I bought 6/22 anyway).
Pin color function
___ ______ ________
1 yellow Mic
2 white Rx AF
3 red PTT
4 n/c
5 shield Ground
6 blue + Power
Hope this helps somebody - Getting the correct 6 pin connector was more difficult than expected.

The audio cable looks like 6 wires with all shielded, usually only the audio lead is shielded on microphone cables. Let us know how it works for you. The other thing is you wanted a 90 deg mic plug, I’ve never seen one in a 6 pin but you could buy a 4 pin of the same brand and use the 6 pin socket from the one you already have.

I also have one without the extension cable.. I used them for my Anytone at-6666, as I made it into a door stop last night I won't be needing them any longer.lol

No problem, it’s good to get others input on these topics. I use the forum regularly to locate items I need in a project, searching the internet most times crowd you with “[bot] sites” that go nowhere.

Yeah, and not all 6 pin connectors are the same pin pattern, even though they are called "6 pin connectors". It was surprisingly difficult to figure out what the correct connectors are online.
So I was happy to find the correct 6 pin connectors for the President mic cable at the local electronics store.
So far the mic extension cable is working great.

this is good info for sourcing,
thanks Jeepers,
i am only looking for the mic cable because i want to add a power line into the mic to replace the battery(power mic), which is constantly dead, weak, otherwise
i was just going to hardwire it but seeing the plugs might be tempting to use them too.
now if i could just find a 16 pin and 25 pin plug for a piece of machinery,,, ?
