No modulation on Realistic Amplified mic 21-1173

So I managed to get this mic working. I accidentally reversed the cables when hooking up the SWR meter. Keyed the mic, pegged the needle and stopped.
I put the cables on the correct terminals, keyed the mic. Throws a solid carrier, lit up all 5 bars but have no modulation when speaking. I replaced the mic on the TRC-492 Navaho and it worked fine. Any ideas on what I fried?

Check the wiring again to see if the shield and audio leads are reversed, other than that the AM regulator again went bad.
