Yes it's D-STAR capable. No digipeater function though. The Kenwood TM-D710G I received yesterday for the truck has that capability. I'll get it put in the truck this evening. Well, mostly. Waiting on the Lido mount for the head unit.DevilDog66 wrote: ↑Tuesday, 02 May 2017, 6:30 AMAughtry.....that is one fine looking HT ya got there!I have a new mini mobile radio coming in this Thursday, a QYT KT-8900D dual bander with quad band stand by. I might also be getting a new weather proof (IP67 rated) HT from Sain Sonic/Baofeng the GT-3-WP model. When is the next VE or VEC exam test date? PM when you get a chance, I'll give you my call sign and send you a QSL card if you give me your address. Correct me if I'm wrong is that a DMR mode or D-Star radio?
Good going!! Congrats!
That is really cool, Greg. Best wishes for exceptonal dx'ng. I just got the proper coax, a frequency counter, and I did get a hand-held Astatic power mic for the McKinley I am extremely excitied to work with. Everything is falling in place. Just gotta get on the roof.MDYoungblood wrote: ↑Saturday, 27 May 2017, 10:18 AMJust got a Anytone AT-6666 from 88 Radio. Out of the box the default settings were AM =10w, 35w pep, FM = 40w, and SSB = 50w pep. Modulation default setting was on 30 and I left it there. went through the menu turning off the unnecessary stuff, changed the AM DK to 5w (in the menu) and now it swings to 50w, left FM and SSB alone. Frequency was right on the money out of the box, I have the display on frequency instead of channels just because i know the channel frequency and it's my preference, 6 digit readout is nice. I set the SWR protection at 2:1 to save the finals from disaster.
I have it hooked to the base antenna, everyone so far likes the sound of the stock mic and shot a little skip with it, talked to 165 (Nasty Dan) in Florida with no problem.
I'm still tweaking it, writing everything down as I go so I'll post more later in the radio mods section.

Will do.... We have a group of guys that talk locally on one of the channels we made home.. Every Friday & Saturday we try and get on, from 11pm until 1 am.. Of course not every one of us is on every week, but the channel has been growing.. I know of 4 other people that have the same radio, we strive for a clean audio station.. They have had the radio for a number of years and the radio has been very reliable, no issues so far.. Lets hope it stays that way..MDYoungblood wrote: ↑Friday, 14 July 2017, 10:56 AMCool, everyone raves about the Flex radios but I think the Anan models are the way to go, (BTW, they are "MARS" ready unlike Flex). Keep us in mine if you start to develop any problems with it, heaven forbid.

The Mic works great on the McKinley. This weekend I am expecting to change
MDYoungblood wrote: ↑Monday, 07 August 2017, 5:23 AMNot so new but I picked this up at the Berryville (VA) Hamfest on Sunday, had $50 taped on it and offered the guy $10, started to walk away and he yelled "Sold". Got home, hooked it up, to my amazement it works great, a tad dusty inside, may need a couple of caps changed but nothing new for a radio of it's age, looking it up on the internet not realizing how rare they are.
Been wanting an AM radio to talk with the locals that only use AM and then don't need to change any settings on my SSB gear.

Sparkomatic CB5100 AM CB base, still has the handles on it, that makes it even rarer in itself. Wanted something AM to talk to the locals that don't use SSB, this will keep me from messing with the setting on my SSB radios.
I don't recognize the radio, but it is a beautiful looking base station. Also looks to have many different features.MDYoungblood wrote: ↑Monday, 07 August 2017, 5:23 AMNot so new but I picked this up at the Berryville (VA) Hamfest on Sunday, had $50 taped on it and offered the guy $10, started to walk away and he yelled "Sold".
