uniden pro510xl final

Just bought a uniden pro510xl slightly used, new radio with a irf520 mosfet final. Can a 13n10 be used as a drop in replacement final,if so would there be any increase in power. I cut the anti spiking diode (D204) and put a resistor in line with it on the banded end of diode to bring down deadkey for a amp this seems to work fine. I might want to use it barefoot and was woundering if a 13n10 could be used and if there would be any power gain. Thanks, D-minus

The 13n10 mosfet will work in place of the 520 mosfet, just make sure is not a counterfeit fet or the "L" version.

if there is a increase in power out the only person that will know it will be you. you have to have 100 watts just to kick up the power where any one on the receiving end will notice it. not really worth the time to change the final to a 13n10 as long as the 520 is working. you might gain 2 or 3 watts.

I agree with sonoma, I would only change the final if it's bad and the 13n10 was the fet you had to replace it with.
