Retired my 1995 F250 Powerstroke at 320k miles. The guy that bought it is still driving it daily.
My current truck is a 2009 Tacoma. Got around 25k on it.

I'm at 131,000 in my radio vehicle and it's barely broke in. It's an old cherokee with the 4.slo motor but runs great. I haven't had a vehicle payment since clinton was in office. My wife always leases new so we have a nice vehicle for socializing but a paid for vehicle is hard to beat. I'm trying to talk her into just buying this one outright and not having that $600 a month payment for a while. I want one of those smart cars. I never go anywhere and when we travel I just rent a suburban for the week and give that bus back when I'm done. Speaking of payments, my 2nd mortgage falls off soon and my youngest goes from preschool to public next year, so I'll get a grand a month boost in the wallet. Woo hoo! I'm ready for that. I'm wanting to kill this house payment deal and be paid off, just paying property tax, and not work so hard. I'll have a small 7-8 year window then the kids are headed to college so I need the break and time to save. That's when its really expensive.

Our oldest truck is a 1973 Ford F-250 with 327,000 miles. Over the years while installing new brakes we discovered the 1 ton real end and 1 ton front end. Changed it over to run on propane in '75 and the engines still tight. Only uses a quart of oil every 2500 miles. The beds getting rusty. Used daily feeding livestock.

Good stuff here.

You know, much of the US is pretty much a throw-it-away society once the ashtray gets full and the tank is empty. It is good to see that there are some out there with common sense these days. I'm in Texas and I constantly see on the highway old vehicles towing other old vehicles to the south. Just when someone in the US THINKS something is worn out it is usually just broken in and has a total other life in other people's eyes, those usually south of our border being the majority. The only real exception to that rule that I've observed is with the Ford Crown Victoria. Those things are cop cars, then taxis, and are usually driven into the ground before getting mashed. Head down to Tijuana one day. All of the old Chevrolet Caprice sedans and wagons are alive and well. Years ago most were probably family trucksters going to the grand canyon long before the SUV and minivan craze hit the scene. Today they cart drunk tourists back to the border after they stayed too long and the buses quit running for the day.

The most extreme example of getting the most from a vehicle mentality wise I can think of is Cuba. Those folks drive stuff forever, fabricating parts as needed. I'm sure other parts of the world are just as frugal, but I'm not well travelled globally.

I'm now up to 143k on the cherokee. It needs tires, shocks and a few other odds and ends that I'll in the next week or so, it is just time. I'm trying to decide whether to do a small lift that replaces the coils and leaf springs, and shocks, go with bigger tires or just do the shocks, tires, and keep it normal. Still, cheaper than the old payment book and I'm getting 20 mpg- not bad for an ugly old suv.

That would be 178,333 miles.

My 97 Ford Ranger 4Cyl is at 220,000
The previous owner rolled it over. It was an Arizona truck, so almost no rust. Ill keep that going till it pukes, then patch it up again

the 00 Taurus is at 116,000
This was A customers car that he couldn't afford to fix.
New timing cover gasket, Radiator, and front brakes and off we go!

the 73 Mercedes Benz 220D is a mystery, as it has no 100,000 place on the odometer.
My grandfather bought it brand new in 1973 and it was his daily driver until the late 90's.
And yes, there is A CB antenna mounted on it. 8)

Hummm, I should post some pics of that.

This is a good old post, interesting subject, I have 3 vehicles, an 03 Jeep Grand Cherokee - 113,000, an 04 Dodge Ram 1500 (my for work truck) - 155,500 (I have not used it in the last 3 yrs), and a 05 Nissan Altima 3.5SE - 74,000 (my toy at the moment). They were all bought used (2 yrs old) with less than 30,000 miles on them. Looking to buy a new toy soon.
