I have a multi band reciever for am/fm/sw/air. It has a built in antenna with no jack for an external. I am thinking about adding a SO239 to it by soldering a jumper to the antenna lead inside the radio and shield side to radio ground. I have a discone scanner antenna I was thinking of hooking to it or I could build a wire antenna from stuff I have lying around.
Will my plan work? Anyone try it before or have any suggestions?

Re: Antenna Jack add-on
You were right. It did work. I installed the chassis mount jack out of an old junk radio and hooked up my scanner antenna with a length of coax just a couple feet off the ground and I was able to pick up stations on all bands better than with the factory antenna and heard a lot of stuff I couldn't hear without it. It's nice when an easy job makes a big difference.Night Crawler wrote:That would work.
