Re: Galaxy 99v
It sounds like you have either a bad connection in the truck or the radio has a cold solder joint, possibly both. Is it shutting down after a long conversation or just as you are riding, vibration might be the clue.

I can hook it the right antenna on my truck and it will work good I can hook it to the lift antenna and it will go off just as soon as you put the coax in the back

Re: Galaxy 99v
By off you mean no sound or static, or does the radio go dead like the power has been disconnected?

Re: Galaxy 99v
sounds like a bad antenna or coax. if it only does it on the little antenna. you will need to find the problem with the antenna

Re: Galaxy 99v
does the lights and all go out when you hook up the antenna. also check to see if it does this when you just put the end of the coax inside the plug and do not let the ground touch the radio.

Re: Galaxy 99v
I didn't think a Galaxy radio has a protection circuit to cut the radio off if the antenna shorts but it seems that is what's happening. Check the left antenna and see if it is indeed shorted out. Check the coax with a multi meter, if you can disconnect the coax from the mount, check it that way too. Check any insulators the antenna stud mount is using, could be a short there.
