Still looking for Silver Streak 150

Post by silvereagle1 » Sunday, 03 November 2013, 19:23 PM

If anyone has or finds a near mint condition silver streak 150 I'd like to get my hands on one. there are 2 or 3 versions I believe. The one I want is the one with the cab over frieghtliner picture on the face. 4 small toggle switches with 4 lights. I've found a few on e-bay but they were in terrible condition. I had one some 20 years ago and would like to get one back just for sentimental value.

Figured there must be a reason you were looking for one...Because there's allot better box's available out there, than the Silver Streak.

I was the same way with the Sears Roadtalker slant-face radio...I had one back in the 70's that was just the AM version, but I always wanted the SSB version, but ones on eBay that was in decent shape was going for stupid-money.

Then one day one of my neighbors who is in her late 70's came over and asked me if I wanted her late husbands old CB Radio. She had been cleaning out some closets and ran across it, and knowing I still had CB's she asked me if I wanted the thing.

To my surprise, It was a Bran New Sears Roadtalker SSB radio, never taken out of the box! Never even opened box. The box was still taped shut from the factory!

Her husband had bought it back around 1978 to install in his pick-up, but never got around to it, and it had been sitting in the top of a closet ever since...I tried to give her some money for it, but she wouldn't have anything to do with it, and said if I didn't want it she was going to donate it to the Salvation Army with a bunch of other stuff..

needless to say, the Salvation Army truck never seen that radio!

Keep looking on ebay for your box, I see them pop-up on there every now and then...Or check with all your elderly neighbors and see what they have stashed away in their closets!

Good story. I wouldn't be running the 150 I just want what I used to have. I have the kl 503 right now and it works very well. So far only good reports on it. Even on position 6 it appears to have good clean sound. just want the silver streak because times were tough back then and I was forced to get rid of it.

Thanks JJD. That's not the exact one but it's close enough and appears to be in mint condition. 100 bucks is cheap so I e-mailed the guy and ask him if he would hold it until next Friday and I'd for sure get it. Just waiting on return e-mail now.

I think the one you were looking for is the silver front version, this one maybe a newer version...But for $100 bran new, I doubt your going to be able to do any better! That's not a bad price...Just happened to run across it, and remembered you were looking for one...

One thing you might consider, is ebay has a "Buy Now, pay later" plan...

Yep, those eBay links aren't going to last long on the topics, best to PM them instead of posting.

The video is kind of funny, why is he using the 2K setting on the meter when the amp only is a 150, guess to make it look like it is making more power maybe. still is a nice clean amp.

I noticed that too. And it Wasn't much of a video to try and sell a product. I wish he would have spent a little more time on it... IF it is brand new and not overdriven it is a good buy.

The amp was a buy it now. I e-mailed the seller and ask if he would hold it a few days but he wouldn't respond back with an answer and then today he sold it.

I have a Silver Streak 150 it is a cream colored face with the Semi on the front and does 75watts on low and 150watts on high. works very well and is a clean talker. I have it hooked up to a cobra 25WXSTII. Get plenty of compliments on how well and clean it talks on skip. I have had this amp since the 1973 got it in Florida. Had to replace a diode and the power leads once. I possibly would sell it but as you said it has sentimental value. So if you have not found one yet I have a friend that has one also in his old pick-up truck and said that he might part with his.

send me a pm and I will ask him how much he wants for it.

it's been a while since I've been back here on this topic but thanks to red light I've found a silver streak 150 near mint condition. Thanks to all you guys that have kept your eyes open and sent me pm's over this past year and a half. much appreciated. that's what I like about CBRT it's more of a brotherhood than a forum. Here are some of the pics that Redlight sent me. it's the best looking silver streak that I have seen since I lost mine 20 plus years ago. I'm happy he found it. the silver streaks may not be the ideal amps of choice for a lot of people but I wanted it more for sentimental value. I will be using it though as soon as I get it in. I believe its class c but not for sure. here are some pics that Redlight sent me of the amp. Thanks again Redlight!

Hope it serves you well. I have heard these on air before and the ssb audio is not bad on low and they are drive sensitive amps. Start low drive and work your way up til you get about 80% of advertised out put and it should be fine.

I tried it out on AM last week and received good reports from truckers. I haven't had any SSB contacts yet. I bought a Silver Streak 150A shortly after I bought the 150 and I'm having issues out of the 150A. Hoping to get it looked at in a few days. But yes the one I bought from you seems to be doing great.
