PENETRATOR 500

Post by RBR762 » Saturday, 21 October 2017, 22:09 PM

Anyone know where these can be found......I know a stainless hose clamp might be better...but I want to stick with the original style clamps that came with the antenna.

if it is the aluminum clamp with a bolt in it to tighten it up on the antenna I have made them myself. I just get a larger piece of tubing and cut it to length then drill a hole in it to take the screw and a square nut then slip it onto the antenna and tighten it up. it will shape its self as you tighten it up. forgot to mention I squeeze it some to make it oval shaped then just tighten it up.

The MFJ/HyGain site does list replacement parts for the SPT500 but there you will only find the SS clamps they use now. You might find them looking at the other ham antenna parts lists, they were widely used by HyGain.

I just got a new SPT-500 and it came with the current screw and band type clamps. Haven't got her up yet but it won't be long...

:character-beavisbutthead: So how are you guys liking the spt500 ?! So glad they came back out with it . Is there anyway to modify it so it will handle more than 1500 Watts ? Looking at the zero five colosal 10k 5/8 ground plane , kinda spendy though .
