What I Use
Well I use 4 different antennas...all have different takeoff angles to cover most conditions.A Antron 99 at 25' with a unique passive reflector wire parrallel to it 4' behind cut at 20 odd feet...works as a reflector creating humble gain.Next a vertical delta loop 12' per side 25' up fed on one side 1/4 wvelength...a horizontal dipole in loft around 8.5-9 feet per side and my latest the magnetic loop on shed roof. All tune good SWR no tuner baluns as required no TVI and all gettin juiced by a 1965 Swan 350 I rebuilt. All 4 antennas on a 4 way switch so one can easily flip back and forth to find optimum receive.I likes!

Re: What I Use
Outrageous ! That is sure a bit of real estate for antennas.
You must be talkin' everywhere.

Re: What I Use
Not really a lot of room needed Ox2...hahaha...the antron is in a tree out back...the loop is stood off the side of the house on standoffs up by the peak....the dipole is up at the peak of the loft on the flatside drywalled right in and the magnetic loop is basically portable ...sits on a wood base and is maybe 30" tall by 24" wide.I live right downttown in a 130 yr old house on postage stamp sized lot..hahaha...but she be pumpin out the RF man!

Re: What I Use
O.K. I want pictures of those setups.
I also have 4 antennas. 2 at home that really don't get out so good, one magnet mount for trading between cars and one old center-load on my truck that works better than all of the others combined. (Oh yeah, and one dipole on the side of the house that's worse than a coat hanger)
A lot of us here could use some real world tech like that to overcome real estate shortages and still get out. Like I said, how about some pics and details?
Also, how does living on a 130 year old postage stamp help? I'll bet it's worth some serious coin.

Re: What I Use
At the moment I have 5 antennas I'm using, a HyGain AV-6160 (MFJ-2990 is the same antenna) (for my HF stuff), a HyGain AV-14AVQ (HF stuff), a Avanti Sigma II (tunes 10, 11, and 12m), a Diamond D130 (25 to 1300mhz, tunes well on 2m and 70cm), and a homemade 11m full wave vertical loop (very broad banded).
I have been interested in a magnetic loop, got a low RPM 12v motor and a air cap coming to start construction of one, been planning a 200ft long horizontal loop in the yard as well but a little leery about the power lines behind my house.

Re: What I Use
Tuning is very sharp with the cap...a vernier drive cap would be nice...the little S Meter has a 1N34 didoe across the terminals and shows RF to tune...beware killer voltages on transmit!

Re: What I Use
Yes, you have to watch out with using a loop, voltages are very hair raising, even deadly. Think mine will be on 20ft of PVC pipe so the grandkids can't accidentally touch it.

Re: What I Use
I have a typical front porch/veranda out front with a roof that slopes up to the house at say 20 degrees up.So I put up another loop...this time a rectangular loop with the long sides at a little over 12' and the short sides around 6'.Mounted small angle brackets to the shingles on the porch roof so the wire rectangle sits nicely parallel about 2" off the shingles.Had some all copper 98% shield good quality RG-6 that I ran to it with a 4turn 4" dia. Balun at the corner feedpoint.Hooked up analyser and she tunes 1.2-1 at .385 and is quite broadband.Hears well now just waitin for conditions to try DXing. Now total of 6 antennas to chose from....and very close to divorce hahaha

Re: What I Use
I am hoping the slight angle of the porch roof and corner feedpoint will create a slightly vertical but mostly horiz. Pattern. Will get up there one day with the field strength meter and try to figure it out
