This is one of those "it all depends" answers, new and getting a great deal then "yes". Getting one used, inspect it for arc's in the air caps. I never had one but something similar and most reasons they are sold used is arcing.

what causes the arcing ? i havent got it yet but now im curious

Look between the cap blades for burnt spots. Most times it is because of over wattage.

I talked to a op yesterday that has one, runs his ALS 600 (500w+/-) to it with no problems, I think once you get over that wattage things start to arc.

Its a roller inductor. The little wheel that follows the winding if it has dirty spots on it they will arc on the wire. I have the same one used and they show some crusty spots. Look at carefully at it. If its burned it wont work right in that range.
