I was talking about this somewhere else on the forum yesterday or so. I'm up here in Utah about a mile above sea level but surrounded by mountains and a 'meh' antenna. But MMM booms in here on channel 6 starting about noon every day and then his buddy 747 (I think) comes in and trounces everyone, even motomouth. He's so clean & claear, I first thought he was here in my neighborhood, but I think they're both down in Georgia.

-- Tuesday, 25 October 2016, 12:32 PM --

Also, I think we can take the first paragraph of this thread (by Ladymermaid);

"From the Westcoast to the Eastcoast to the Bahamas to Alaska to Northwest Corner to the Smokie Hills and the Sandpile to the Big Apple and then the Big D over to the Hog Yard back to the Big Bam swing to the Backwoods then to the Weatfields long walk to the Windy City but cant see the Mini Grass thinking you must be hearing the Astrodome or maybe its the Land of Lincoln you keep trying to reach to the Blue Grass stepping a long foot to the Swamp Lands wishing you were in the Cold Country but you are in the Buckeye or the Cackalacky ....."

set it to music and have lee Greenwood sing it and we'd have a hit on our hands!

Who wants to do the chorus?

"MMM" is in California, haven't a clue where or who "747" is, the big dawgs usually run channel 6 and the junk yard dawgs are on 28, the "wanabee's" are on other channels.

I don't know if these dudes would be considered BIG BALLAS to you guys down in the lower 48. But these three have been making some noise on my radio.

1) Motormouth Maul sounds local.
2) Modsquad Mobile
3) 750 Australia

OK "MMM" aka "MotorMouthMaul" is apparently in California, not Georgia as I had assumed. I was listening in my office all afternoon yesterday to try to identify those boomers, especially 747 who sounds like he's in my front yard. Got nothing on 6 or 28 or anywhere, just the occasional HD dumper up in the Kennecott mine. No skip yesterday.

Mtn Lynx, you really are getting some serious skip up there. MMM sounds local to you and ... Australia to Alaska, now that's something. Must be more than, ummmm... let's see, uhhhh, well I never was very good at math but I'd figure it's at least something like over 57 miles! Are you able to converse with these guys or just pick up their high amp signals?

I read somewhere Mel Blanc (did all the voices for Warner Brother's cartoons, Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Yosemite Sam, etc. etc.) was a big time CBer in SoCal back in the day and he'd use all his voices when broadcasting. I'd love to have jawed with him or just listened to him. What a hoot!

Ha Ha! I remember reading this post quite a while ago and I wondered the same thing. I actually looked it up. The word ballas has to do with diamond grains used for industrial purposes. Why it was used here to describe powerful stations...........who knows.

I don't mean to get off track here but in reading through all the replies I noticed that the last word in MMM (motor mouth M) keeps getting censored. I didn't think that the term for a large hammer was offensive lol. What's up with that?

Guess this is a little on the late side now....but, reason it gets censored is because of another Forum which has that work associated with it...something "----droppers." :mrgreen:

which may or may-not be still around..

And "KP68" wins the "Kewpie Doll" (imaginary of course). Funny thing is a lot of us here are/were members there too.
