What do YOU run in the mobile?

Post by backwoods » Sunday, 09 November 2008, 16:49 PM

I have a Gen Lee running a 1X2 but am going to put a 2030 modded 29 in it's place for awhile. I like the Lee allot and it's loud but would like to get the Lee on a big antenna to scan more channels for a little while. It may go back in the truck in a little bit but I have hi hopes for this BIG 29!! So yea I want to try a Magnum and maybe Ranger in the future, just looking around to see what everyone is running.

Chalk one up for the old timers... Royce 600...23 channels, 2w dead key swinging a monster @ 7 watts!!!

In the work truck is a 3300HP with diamond plate case, freq counter and carbon fiber face plate sticker with no lettering whatsoever.

Oh yea, forgot to say both radios sit on top of the dash on a piece of perforated kitchen shelf liner.

Right now I'm running a 959 with a wilson 2000 in my big truck. When my SWP gen. lee comes in it's going in the big truck with the wilson. The 959 is going in my pick up, the piece of junk thats in there is coming out and I think I'm going to swap the 4' K40 for a 5' silver load. I'm still undecided on the best course of action for my 4 runner. I was going to put the 959 in there, but I think I'd have to mount it on the hood for it to fit. Now I'm thinking a 25LTD for the toyota with another wilson. Hell, maybe I'll put a 10k on the big truck and use my 2000 on the toyota. Too many options

I'm Old School.

I'm running an April/1989 Philly Cobra 148GTL, with a Galaxy frequency counter and a "Palomar" Commander 250A 2-pill AB amp.

Yes, the amp is bolted to a cover from an old junk radio. It beats punching a hole in the floor of my car for the bracket.

I have been running a CONNEX 4800 DXL-E with a WILSON 5000 MAGMOUNT for almost ten years with no failure of electrical components or switch failures.
I HIGHLY recommend this exact set up. I CANNOT believe how perfect a match these two components make! I have talked all over the world!
On sideband ,,, aaaand on AM as well! I hope that I have the opportunity to talk to some of y'all on the frequencies real soon.
This is UNIT 199 and i'm gone/.......

General Lee peaked and tuned by my local tech with an Astatic 636L into a Wilson 1000 Mag on the roof. Occasionally, I swap out a stock Magnum S-980 when I want to change things up.

It depends from week to week, I have a few to choose from. I have an 88, 3300hp, rci 6300f25, couple of 29's, but right now, Im running a third generation Cobra 200 that is doing well. I had one of the first gens. and it sucked after two weeks. This one is doing really well surprisingly, I have been waiting on it to crap but so far its still going strong. Antenna is the old faithful 102". For 2 meter, Im running a Icom 2200h with a Antenna Specialists 5/8.

I'm runnin' a RadioActive DX99V.
It does 15-18 RMS. DK 1.5 swings 45-50 .
Barefoot it's good for a 5S unit carrier at 15 miles.
At 15 miles it still swings forward 2S units from there when I modulate.

Nothing special. I rotate between several radios and antennas, but most of the time- Tx Ranger tr966(d104m6b mic), into a tx star swt16, into a worldwide 16 pill, into a puck mounted 10k, all LMR400 coax, 2/0 cable. I run on average a 2:1 swing vs. deadkey at most, so no swing really here to speak of so I'm a *Censored*. For stationary at the park operation I have a variety of 2 hot, dual polarity, and other odd antennas. As you can see just a run on of the mill mudduck for this north texas crowd here, hoping to go bigger one day.

Yes it's me, Dollar-98, drdx, the original all *Censored*, shot cawla on workin this no-fade technology.
