Want to add some amplifier to my mobile. Been running my Hooker 100 since early eighties and want to step it up. Would like to go to 500 watts pep, don't much care about what it does AM don't do that much skip on the AM side anyway. Still using my GE SSB mobile like forever too. Been thinking about Mosfets because of the low draw they have. I know they aren't as sturdy but with a traditional CB shouldn't make much difference. Opinions all welcome.
Thanks Blue

Look at the Palomar HD 450 FET. I'd get the HD one, you can still get some decent wattage out even driving it with a regular CB radio. Most FET amps are biased so SSB wouldn't be a problem, just make sure the SWR is good. Check "Joe's" site or give them a call.
