Post by 443 Arizona »

it says CARDINAL 200on the front of this shoebox sized amp.
it looks to be at least 40+ years old,
it has 2 tubes , both GE , 6JG6A
two rotary knobs, one labeled L and the other T. along with ON/OFF switch and a BY/OPER switch
looks fine but have not plugged it in yet,(ac powered)
does anyone have knowledge of this "brand",model,

New one on me. The L and T are your load and tune controls as it's a tube type amp. I'd check the high voltage capacitors to see if they are leaking or shorted before plugging her in and turning on. There were some Contex and ABC branded amps that fit your description but the Cardinal I've never heard of before.

With a pair of 6JG6's it's good for about 50 watts depending on the plate voltage and drive.

Tubes glow, resistors blow, pills are for swallowing.

I guess the smoke hasn't cleared to get back on and tell us if it's working,, when you do some pics would help identify it.
