Re: Handheld radio (CB)
I dont know about that one but I have a Cobra 38 WXST that works well. Just make sure you get a good mobile antenna if you use it in the vehicle due to the Faraday (sp) effect. They also have those whip style antennas that bolt right on to the radio and is telescopic from 8" to 27" for out in the field. That rubber duck antenna is not worth crap unless you are calling the guy in the mobile radio in the parking lot outside of your post....

Re: Handheld radio (CB)
Had one several months ago that i purchased as a compact back-up, didn't feel it was worth keeping. It was easily converted, however it had terrible audio quality (RX & TX) and lacked range even with an external antenna connected to the adapter. If after reading this you still feel a handheld is absolutely necessarily. I've had several GMRS that outperformed this radio at 1/3 the cost.

Just boughted Midland Alan 95 Plus handheld cb..
Easily modified it to 400ch FM/AM, listening is GOOOOOOOOOD.. Sending about 4w FM/1w AM.. The longer antenna was optional (better than the original one)

Re: Handheld radio (CB)
The one I use is the 75-822 works well for what it is and yes the rubber duck that comes with it is only good for short ditances but is ok on recieve. In my car hooked to a tuned LIL WILL it works good.
