Re: LSB 38 freq

Looks like I eill be making a visit to the cb shop. I was able to fix the d-104 myself but I'm not touching the inside of this radio. The mic had a battery in it so long that it rusted rotted and leaked. I just had to remove the battery and battery connector then re solder a new connector in place. ...

LSB 38 freq

II just got a 2000 GTL that I picked up on that auction site. This is the first radio that I have had with a freq counter. 38 AM is on point with 27.3850. LSB shown 35.1825. Is that right? I was just thinking that LSB would be like 27.380 or something. [ Post made via Samsung Galaxy S5 ] http://www....

My favorite is a Uniden Grant. I have had a lot of success with a Grant but several of my ssb radios are only 23 ch.

Re: What have you recently acquired for new radio gear ?

Re: k40 microphone

i always write down what color of wire is on what pin when i open up the radio or the mike wire. that solves the issue of what color does what. Now a days I have been rewiring the radio itself to accept the Cobra/Uniden/Galaxy pinout, makes life a lot easier to walk into a truck stop and buy an off...

Re: k40 microphone

I'm more of a paint by numbers kinda guy. I bought the same radio at Goodwill for $2 but it didn't come with a mic. Not a big deal since I have plenty of extra stock Cobras laying around. Since I'm not a tech and I am only at the point of starting to learn to work on my pile of non working radios I ...

Re: CB in a Corvette

Looks like I could make a mount like that but I don't see how you ground it. On a C4 Corverrt there isn't a frame that runs back. I guess I could attach a ground wire to the exhause mount and in effect grounding to the engine. Since this is a $2,500 car I can't see paying $200 just for an antenna m...

Re: What have you recently acquired for new radio gear ?

 I posted an ad on that list website that said I buy old cb radios and I pay $5 each. If you only have 1 or 10 I will take them all. Today I picked up a box. The guy said his Uncle was a trucker and these were his. I just figured it would be a bunch of 23 channel radios but when I looked in ...

CB in a Corvette

OK so I am sitting here looking at my 1987 Corvette and trying to figure out how I would put a cb in it. I have seen pic's of vettes with a cb mounted on the side of the tranny tunnel but not sute how you set up an antenna on a fiberglass body. Any ideas? [ Post made via Samsung Galaxy S5 ] http://w...

Re: Whats a good mic

I am a creature of habit. 22 years ago I started driving a truck and the first year I bought an RK56 and a Cobra 25. I still have both. Since then I would pick up RK56 mic's anytime I found some driver needing money. They would sell them for $25. I probably bought 10 and still have 5 or 6. For my ba...

Re: Kris Boomer amp

I actually got my anyenna up but so far it is just on a 10' pole. I have another 10' that this one will slide into so that should put my a-99 another 8' or so up when I am talking and I can bring it down when it's not in use. But anyway I put the Boomer in line with the Guardian and talked to a guy ...

Re: Regency CB-27

Whrn I was supposed to pick the radio's up the seller couldn't find them. I figured if nothing else each tadio has 9 tubes and I have a tube tester so I could get my money back just by parting out the tubes in the bad one and I would still have 1 to keep on the shelf. O well. Guess I will just focus...

Re: End Base Antenna Bans!!!

This is why I won't live in an HOA neighborhood. If I want to paint my house purple with hot pink shutters I will and if I want a cb anyenna on my property I will. I don't do well with authority, just ask my manager. [ Post made via Samsung Galaxy S5 ] http://www.cbradiotalk.com/ext/sniper/mobiledev...

Re: I think I want a tube base radio

I love talking on a tube radio. The 2 I have are not anything that anyone is begging to get their hands on but the warm sound that comes out is beautiful. Sitting in a dark room watching the glow of the tubes is somehow relaxing. [ Post made via Samsung Galaxy S5 ] http://www.cbradiotalk.com/ext/sni...

Re: 4 Pin to 5 Pin Adapter On Uniden Grant XL

I had about the same question in my mind. My favorite mic id my d-104 power mic and I have 2 radios now that I will be using. Eventually I will get a Galaxy Saturn or Cobra 2000. I don't really want to buy a d-104 for each radio so I was curious if I could get/make adapters to use the 5 pin Astatic ...

Re: Your Local Channel?

When I lived in Long Beach, Ca the locals were on 6, 16, and 34 USB. In Keokuk, Ia it was 15 and 19. Now I'm on the west side of Phoenix and it seems that 19 is the only place I hear any locals and most of those are agitators. Hey MDYoungblood, I just looked at it and I don't see a model number or anything. It just says Kris on the left and Boomer on the right. After I get my antenna set up and dialed in I will hook this box up and see how it sounds. I have never put power behing the Guardian before because it sounds so g...

In the early to mid 90's I shot skip all day on an old 1970 something mobile and a silver streak 150. Still have the silver streak but that radio got lost in a move. Re: Regency CB-27

I really just wanted it because it looks different than any tadio that I have ever had. I have 2 other tube types, which are my favorites, so most of the time I plan on running my Pierce Simpson Guardian with my d-104 but it would be cool if this thing actually worked. I have looked all over the web...

There is a guy about 30 miles from me who has a pair of Regency cb-27 radios and original mics for sale dirt cheap. They were made in 1961 and I have never seen anything like them. I talked to an old ham who said they were a hated radio because it was so hard to keep them on frequency. Anything othe...

I have been away from any serious base set up for many years.
