Re: Mounting Imax 2000

Greg, it was loose between two of the sections. Must have been like that for a while, because the threads are now messed up. I know that it was very tight when it went up, so the wind must have worked it loose over time and the storm we had finished it off. I think I can chase the threads and clean ...

After a recent windstorm my antenna has not been working correctly. SWR goes up when it is wet, and when the wind is blowing I get inconsistent performance. Time to take it down and see what is going on.

Are you still using the stock Uniden mic?

There is something different about the factory mics on those little Uniden's. I tried a known-good mic off a Cobra on a Uniden 520Xl and everyone said they could barely hear me. I switched back to the factory mic and everyone said I sounded great.

The McKinley has variable power, so you can easily match it to that RM Italy amp. I ran a McKinley and K203 for a few months and have no complaints about it. I was using it as a base, and got great reports from the locals and some skip contacts. [ Post made via Android ] http://www.cbradiotalk.com/e...

Made a deal over the phone tonight on a near-mint Uniden Washington. Hoping the shipment goes smooth and I will have it for next weekend.

Will likely be selling my President McKinley. Nothing wrong with it, I just don't like the menu-based interface.

A 4' Firestick would do a fine job. Up to you if you like the appearance or not. Could also mount in a stake pocket in the box, just make sure the antenna is long enough to get up and over the cab. I have a 4' Firestick on a spring, and the performance is excellent.
