Re: Trying to rig a base antenna.

Well I tried to ground the sheet metal with no real improvement. I think my ideas of having a base have been dashed.

I guess I will do all my chit chatting in the mobile.

Re: Trying to rig a base antenna.

I am going to try to ground the sheet metal that the mag mount antenna sits on. That is my last effort. After that I think I have exhausted all other ideas.

Re: Which power mic to get?

I got the RF limited extreme. It's ok. Not as loud as I expected. The best feature is the talk back. Other wise I use the echo very little.

Trying to rig a base antenna.

Ok so here is the deal. I am an apartment dweller and I am trying to rig up a base antenna. That won't get me busted. So I have tried dipoles with crappy luck. I have resorted to a mag mount on a piece or sheet metal. I cannot hear my buddy a couple of miles away, he can barely hear me. If I mess ar...

Re: Amped mic for mobile?

You might want to open the radio up (speaker side) if it is right out of the box and give the modulation pot a tweak. In the back of the radio in front of the antenna connector is a variable resistor (VR4) note the position it is in and then turn it counter clockwise from just better than half to a...

Amped mic for mobile?

So finally I was able to talk to about 5 guys tonight on my mobile. Some on the extreme other end of town and some over the state line which is about 3 or 4 towns away. They all say my signal was good but my voice was quiet and all say an amped mic would do me some good. I under stand there are some...

Re: Wilson 500..........nice

If the HID's are aftermarket check the manufacturer's website to see if filters are made for them, if original equipment then contact the dealer, most new cars using them should be filtered for noise. The best power connection for the radio is directly to the battery, that should eliminate most noi...

The radio is powered from a cigerette lighter.

Thanks.

Static when using HID headlights

Just installed my mobile. Uniden PC78ELITE with a Wilson 500. I get very little static until I use my headlights at night.
The radio is power off of a cigarette lighter, I know that is the issue. Is there anyway to correct this static and still use the cigerette lighter?

Thanks in advance.

I misspoke. I do get some electric feedback when I run my HID headlights. I haven't heard enough strong signals to see if my DSC will also block the signals as well as the feed back.

Wilson 500..........nice

So getting back in CB and I finally got my mobil set up.... I had a Wilson 1000 in the past so I know Wilson rocks. I chose the 500 because I wasn't ready for a big 1000 on my car. Anyways, I put the 500 on my trunk and out of the box I have a great SWR on all channels. Radio is a PC78ELITE tuned up...

I would love a Sirio for a mobile antenna but the all seem huge. I am gonna go Wilson 500 for the size. I would also like a Wilson 1000 but again, the size.

Maybe if I had a pick up or something but I have a car, and I don't want this big antenna on it.
