Old ham who sold me the Mk.IV threw this beauty in ....recapped,few resistors and feed the tube mod and I now have an audio monster on my hands.Radio checks on Ch.19 have been positive...it seems basically brand new and still bang on freq across the dial.Keys 3W swings to 5W with full modulation.Had...

Re: Swan 350etc.

These cheap Chinese counters allow you to select your I.F....I believe for the Mk.IV I set it up for lower offset freq. 5645...then it adds the vfo freq and away you go... sadly this one is generating noise which disrupts the internal S/S pll etc. causing a pulsing counterlike noise.Have tried diffe...

Got an old PAL VFO converted to LCD readout for the Mk.IV.Just have to clean up the face with a piece of smoked plexi. These are very stable VFO's especially since you remove the bulb when you rework them...less drift shorter warm up.Should look ok when done

In reality those two diodes are acting as a clipper especially on strong signals and they introduce a high level of distortion in the receive audio.Dont really understand why they are there and with them out of circuit the result is quite impressive ...cant imagine leaving them tied in [ Post made v...

I would say just make sure you get axial caps if needed for the old old stuff and radial for most newer surface mount stuff. If you order new they most come with a long lead you cut to fit application...good luck, sometimes time consuming and tedious work.Often best to do one at a time then just reche...
