Cobra 18 WX ST II TX issue

Greetings. I have a Cobra 18 WX blah blah that I'm having an issue with. Whenever I key up, and then un-key, the radio stays in TX mode with the meter reading about 75%. It only goes back to RX if I quickly turn the volume up. It reacts almost like it's breaking squelch. For what it's worth, the rad...

Benefits of a spring under a Firestik?

I was wondering if there is any benefit to using a spring between the antenna (4') and the fender mount, aside from the obvious (flexibility if/when hitting stuff). I honestly can see that being the biggest plus, but want to "ask the experts" just to be sure.

Well, it seems that somehow the plug on the coax managed to come loose from the cable itself AFTER the install (probably loose to begin with). Took the end off, cut it back about three inches and reinstalled. Much, MUCH better now.
