Re: Loss of Power

What type of meter are you using or it this being seen on the radio's meter? A true way to test a radio is by using a 50ohm dummy load, using one takes away any changes like you said, ie; changed the antenna and saw a difference.

On just about all radios the external speaker jack is like a switch to disconnect the internal speaker, make sure when the external speaker plug is removed the jack is making contact. Good, you will figure it out. One thing I would do is turn the AM pwer down inside. I have mine set at 10W max with the RF power turned all the way up, it will still swing to 40/50w. SSB it does 65w PEP easy.

No, the clarifier acts like a RIT in the TX/RX mode, the frequency is just a display and will stay on the dials input. You can set the dial in the menu to act like a VFO and then the frequency tracks. You should be able to set the VFO to 10hz in the menu. I've watched a few of the YouTube's and did ...

Back in the day you could get a couple led's and some shrink tube. Place a piece of shrink tube on the tip of the antenna so as not to short out the leads on the led, not necessary if the antenna has a coating or shielded. Then place the led('s) to the tip with the emitter above the tip, another pie...

LED's inherently are susceptible to RF and it doesn't take much to light them up. I used to place them in my swr/watt meters to act like a modulation lamp.
