Re: Tube or Solid state ?

"Tube" radio into a "Tube" amp is the only way to go, nothing like the glow of a set of 572B tubes through a grid case, unless maybe it's a 3cx1500A7.

I have RG 8 size (LMR400, RG213, etc.) coax running out from my switch box but most of my jumpers are LMR240 or equivalent, I've kind of leaned away from Times Microwave wire (probably the best coax available) to ARB brand (I'm rating it second best), a tad easier to work with and still made in the ...

the "Workman C4P5DIN cobra 4 pin mic to 5 pin Din RS Realistic adapter" should work on that radio, might need #2 pin connected to #4 pin using a diode. I have seen a few from the factory wired screwy, not just the RS models.

Re: Mega Watt S700-12 50 Watt AMP

I think one of the fan noise problems is because the small fans used are designed for computer switching supplies, ie; inside cabinets, etc. When the supply is pumping out 14+ volts the fan is overdriven, building a nice little regulated power circuit for it to run at say 8v would quiet it down imme...

The Francis antennas are smooth, the loading coils are molded inside the fiberglass, unlike FireStik where it has a fiberglass rod with the wire wound around it and covered with shrink tubing. I never had the need to tune a Francis antenna so I'd check the SWR before thinking about it.

Looking at the spec sheet 150W is at 50v with 4 watt input is for just one transistor, 2 should in theory should make 300w. Is it a base amp? Snap a couple pics of the inside, I would like to see what it exactly does.
